CAT6509 SUP1A-MSFC failed sup engine replacement

Hello,

We have a 6509 with 2 SUP1A-MSFC (Hybrid CATOS and MSFC IOS) in single router and high availability modes.  My slot 1 sup engine has failed and I have aquired a replacement SUP1a-MSFC module.  What is the best way to make sure that the new SUP Engine becomes the standby sup engine and copies the correct configuration from the sup in Slot 2 for both CATOS and MSFC IOS.  I am concerned because the replacement may have slightly newer software on it and since it is going in slot one I am concerned that it could copy the blank configurations from slot 1 (new) to slot 2 (active) supervisor engine.  What precautions/procedures do I need to follow to get this to work without any downtime.

Also, once I get the images and configurations synchronized between the sup engines what is the easiest and least disruptive way to make the slot 1 supervisor the primary again?
