I am trying to upload an IOS image from our server usin ftp or tftp but I get the following error:

FTP:

copy ftp://user:c1sc0@172.25.X.X/c3560-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEE3.bin flash:c3560-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEE3.bin

%Error opening ftp://user:c1sc0@172.25.X.X/c3560-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEE3.bin (Protocol error)

TFTP:

copy tftp://user:c1sc0@172.25.X.X/c3560-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEE3.bin flash:c3560-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEE3.bin

%Error opening ftp://user:c1sc0@172.25.X.X/c3560-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEE3.bin (Timed Out)

This image has been copied from another switch of the same model, and was saved to this server.

I was also able to download the image to my laptop using Filezilla

copy tftp://user:c1sc0@172.25.X.X/c3560-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEE3.bin flash:c3560-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEE3.bin

I've never seen a command like that before.

It's always "copy tftp:///filename flash:".  How come you've got a username/password on a TFTP I wouldn't know but it sure WON'T WORK.

%Error opening ftp://user:c1sc0@172.25.X.X/c3560-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEE3.bin (Timed Out)

And this means that the TFTP server can't "hear" the request from the switch.  Most likely you've got a firewall.
