WiSM2 vs Flex 7500 vs 8500

Right now we have 12 WiSM blades spread across four 6504 chassis, w/ half of them WiSM2, and the other half WiSM1.

We're trying to figure out if it makes more sense to stick w/ WiSM2, or go w/ an appliance.

The reason we're considering switching the model, is because the SmartNet cost to maintain four Cat 6K's is getting high, especially there's a need to replace the Sup-720-3B (EoL) w/ 720-3C, or Sup-2T.

What are people's experience w/ the 7500 & the 8500's?

Any caveats or issues?

All of our remote campus run AP's in HREAP mode, so it's not an issue w/ the 7500.

Our main concern w/ the 7500 is its capped at 1G throughput, which may be an issue w/ our guest & ISE onboarding traffic (central switched).

Also haven't the 7500's been out for a while?

We don't want to purchase something that will be EoX'd in a few years. (Cisco has a track record of doing that)

8500 is the best candidate, but they're 45% more expensive than the 7500, which makes it a wash w/ the WiSM2 model.

Put this bit of information into your equation.

Talk to your Cisco SE/AM.  Ask them about the new 6807-XL.  Look at the price.

thanks Leo, but we do N:1 between groups of WiSM's, and can't consolidate the 6504's into two 6807's.
