Testing backup links...

                   I am looking for a solution to test backup links for my routers, without having to shutdown primary link.... We are using primarily BGP and EIGRP protocols and most of our backup links are VPN tunnels. Other than using passive interface for EIGRP or shutdown for BGP neighbors... Is there any other viable option out there...

Hi Martha,

Perhaps you could try to add a better route for something like a "test" network or even a host route going through your backup links that doesn't impact your network. This way you could test your backup links.


That's the only idea that came up to  my mind.
