Hi guys,

Can someone please point me out a licensing guide, something that clear explain what each license activates in terms of features, I have looked at the Feature navigator and there is no option for IOS-XR, I'm trying to build a config for two 9001 and I'm lost on the licensing

Ex in FN for IOS: for BGPv4 you need Adv-IPServices

Kind regards,

Bruno

Bruno,

Please check out the licensing white paper.

Thanks,

Bryan

Hi Bruno,

You can check the licensing concepts on the software entitlement guide for ASR9K here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/asr9000/software/asr9k_r4.3/system_management/configuration/guide/b_sysman_cg43asr9k_chapter_0110.html

and here:

http://www.cisco.com/web/Cisco_IOS_XR_Software/pdf/ASR9000_SWE_User_whitepaper.pdf

After this, you can check description of licenses applicable to the LC you are using on the LC datasheet.

For MOD80 or MOD160, for example, the information is found on table 5 here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps9853/data_sheet_c78-663866.html

Best regards, Gustavo

OK Guys,

From what I could understand for the following config:

1x ASR9001

1x A9K-MPA-20x1GE

I should consider the following:

----- From the first link "Core routing features are available for use without any license." -- IGP, BGP, IPv4 and IPv6, multicast routing ... are there as a standard feature

----- I assume that features such has QOS, EEM, IP SLA ....  are there also by default without the need of an extra license

----- So if I need up to 8 VRF's per slot I will need "A9K-iVRF-LIC"   or  "A9K-9001-AIP-LIC" for full scale VRF

Am I correct ???

Thank's in advance,

Regards,

Bruno

Hi,

You are correct w.r.t. the statements below:

----- From the first link "Core routing features are available for  use without any license." -- IGP, BGP, IPv4 and IPv6, multicast routing  ... are there as a standard feature

----- I assume that features such has QOS, EEM, IP SLA ....  are there also by default without the need of an extra license

W.r.t:

----- So if I need up to 8 VRF's per slot I will need "A9K-iVRF-LIC"   or  "A9K-9001-AIP-LIC" for full scale VRF

Yes, but I would like to tell you that ASR9001 has an embedded -SE Enhanced LC, 4 on-board 10GE ports and two MPA slots. So, A9K-IVRF-LIC is applicable to the whole chassis (8 VRFs per system, and not per MPA slot).

Best regards, Gustavo

Hi Andre,

Just another quick question, while building the config on Netform-X I see 4 aditional options regarding  "application"  !!!!!

A9K-CORE

A9K-DATACENTER

A9K-MOBILE

A9K-OTHER

All of this have a price list of zero....Do you know what are this options related to ?

Kind regards,

Bruno

Hi Bruno,

For tracking purposes.

Best regards, Gustavo

Hi Andre,

I know that 9001 is the "small" 2RU and I had the doubt regarding the fixed 4x10Gbps interfaces in terms of licensing, so it's safe to consider both MPA's (2) and the fixed 4x1Gbps has one slot only .... and you have just aswered that   THANKS

Best regards,

Bruno

Is there any docs that show limitations of BGP support in standard core routing features without the need of adding Advanced IP Services?  I'm also looking for docs that show what features are is included in foundation for basic and Premium for IOS XR7 for 9906s.

Thank you!
