AP1262 can't get IP address and can't join WLC

when the 1262 connect to the access switch, it can't get IP address (we create DHCP pool),

but strangely, when I replace with AP1142, it works fine, get ip and register to WLC.

coz 1262 is already put in a box outside, so I can't set MODE button.

Only through console to get in, here is boot process:

Might be an issue with the cable in one of the data pairs. You can try to set the IP address in the ap:

capwap ap IP address

Try that and see if it joins the WLC.

thanks u scott,

I've tried that command

capwap ap ip address 192.168.201.89 255.255.255.0

*Mar  1 00:18:48.196: %CAPWAP-3-STATIC_TO_DHCP_IP: Could not discover WLC using static IP. Forcing AP to use DHCP.

*Mar  1 00:18:58.203: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Not sending discovery request AP does not have an Ip !!

*Mar  1 00:18:58.203: %CAPWAP-3-DHCP_RENEW: Could not discover WLC using DHCP IP. Renewing DHCP IP.

but i'm sure 192.168.201.0/24 is the ap dhcp pool. when replace with 1142, no problem

very confusing~~~

I wonder why it could not joined when give an static IP .. debugs from the WLC should help , meaning you should replicate again this way:

assign static IP

go the WLC itself and run capwap debugs:

debug capwap events enable

debug capwap errors enable

note:

If the LAP was ordered with mesh software on it,       you need to add the LAP to the AP authorization list.

in regards the AP not getting DHCP addresses I recall  a similar case running version 15.2 , issue got fix by allowing broadcast on the switch. ( back then it had to do with ip routing enable on 15.2,)

so just give it a try and enter ip broadcast-address on the switch.

hope that helps,

Felix

thanks felix.

I wonder what's mesh software, how can i be sure it's in AP authorization list?

Was the cable tested? The reason I ask is that we're you able to connect that other AP to the same cable or did you just connect it to the switch? No matter what, you will need to take that ap down. If it's a cable issue, then fix the cable. If you can put another AP using the same cable and it works, then I would delete the images from the AP and upload a new rcv image to the 1262. You can try it using the cable, but then you have to get into ROMMON mode in which you need to hit esc when the AP is booting up.

I tested another AP with same cable, and worked fine....

coz I can't press MODE button, unable to set AP's default ip address 10.0.0.1

is there anyway to restore 1262(LAP) to factory default though CLI?

You can delete the private-config from the flash

Or try entering this command

clear capwap private-config

Post the output to the command "dir flash:".  The AP could be running MESH firmware.  It's been happening a lot lately.
