ASR 9001 Cluster questions

I have a customer that purchased 2 ASR 9001s and want to cluster them. From my reading it is called a nV edge cluster.

I want to clarify a few questions before I commit to clustering the routers.

1) Do the 9001s need the cluster license "A9K-NV-CLUSTR-LIC"? This document does not show it in the prerequisites.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/asr9000/software/asr9k_r4.2/interfaces/configuration/guide/hc42clst.html#wp1011420

2) Is the A9K-MPA-20X1GE module supported in cluster mode? I read about "enhanced ethernet line cards" but this is not specifically mentioned and I don't know if it truly qualifies as a "line card".

Thanks,

Vin

Hi Vin,

License is required.

MPA is not a line card. ASR9001 is effectively a pre-built RSP + Enhanced Ethernet Line Card. The line card CPU controls both the built-in ports and the MPA ports. You can use either for the cluster IRL.
