Do we need both snmp ro and snmp rw on the switch and router in order to make them communicate with PRIME INFRASTRUCTURE 2.0?

You'll need the R/W community String:::

AFROJ AHMAD

Hi ,

RW in only required  if you need to make any changes on the devices via PI.

most of  the communication can happend with RO.

Thank Afroz!

Add devices in using RO and you will see many different logs and messages similar to Managed with Warnings and things like that.

When users see messages like this, they get alarmed and wonder why....

Save your self some headache and put them in RW-

I mean seriously, how many times have you had disgruntled employees come in after hours and go out and push config changes to your Cisco switches?

Also, if adding your Wireless devices in using Read Only, get ready for lots of problems, lots of headaches and lots of overtime chasing your tail around in circles

Thanks Rod for your explaination!
