I've done it using "shutdown" command. but still it is showing active in "show vlan".

switch0(config)#interface vlan 2
switch0(config-if)#
%LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Vlan2, changed state to up

switch0(config-if)#shutdown

%LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Vlan2, changed state to administratively down

switch0(config-if)#end
switch0#
%SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by console

HI Chandu,

PT is more then enough for CCNA.

Dont worry just study the basic conecpts and do some lab practice on PT.

HI Chandu,

Are you using PT ????

PT dont have this command.

Thanks

Correct Answer by Sandeep Choudhary about 3 years 8 months ago

HI Chandu,

vlan 100, shutdown, and  interface vlan 100, shutdown

Shutting down the interface  vlan 2 disables the Layer 3 interface for that VLAN on the switch.  This means hosts will still be able to communicate WITHIN the VLAN  (Layer 2) but can not be routed off of the subnet.

Shutting  down the VLAN (vlan 2) disables Layer 2 switching of that VLAN on the  switch. This will effectively turn off all layer 2 switching on the  VLAN (preventing all communication).

If these commands don't show up its a packet tracer problem .  This is a known IOs command that's been around for many years.
