Getting started with VPN?!

Hi,

sorry that this may sound a bit dumb. But I'm unable to find related information myself.

We have an Windows SBS2008 with PPTP/L2TP VPN. We would like to change to Cisco architecture. Nothing expensive though, for a small company. We would need to establish VPN connections from Windows, Mac OS X, iPhone, Android.

What do we need to achieve the goal? Which VPN server, client a.s.o.

Thanks!

Justin,

ASAs and IOS routers will support L2TP over IPsec, which should be supported across the platforms you mentioned.

On top Mac and iPhone (and some Androids) support Cisco-style IPsec.

If you're willing to spend a bit more, Anyconnect and SSLVPN is supported on all the platforms you mentioned.

It's just a question of seeing what your requirements are, get in touch with a local reseller (there's platform + licensing involved).

Look at a ASA5505 with 10 or 50 users.
These are not expensive. Only two concurrent anyconnect licenses come with the box, so you might need to buy extra if you need more.
