hey, can someone tell me what the FI spare partition is for? Have a customer with 6120 FIs and on the B side 87% of the spare partition is used and is generating a fault.

I have removed old firmware packages and core dumps and tech support bundles but the spare partition utilized space doesn't change. The A side is around 65%.

SSH to UCSM

#connect local b

# dir or ls

Check for Used Vs free Space and look for file named Fwm_trace_file and check if this is the file causing over utilization of the workspace.

fwm_trace_file issue happens only on 2.1.1f version. It is created when you initiate UCSM techsupport collection process.

It is safe to delete the file.

@Jeremy, please share the fault and UCSM version.

You can view the contents of spare partition from NX-OS context

(nxos)#  show system internal dir /spare/

I too have an issue with my /spare partition filling up.

When I use the following command:  show system internal dir /spare/coremgmt/logs

I can see that I have a ton of files.  How do I get to the /spare partition to delete these files?

On 6140, /spare is 4G partition used for system libraries.

Can you please open a TAC service request to further investigate it ?
