Hello:

We just received a replacement Cisco 5510 from Cisco contract and I would like to restore the configuration that saved on the thumb drive into a new one.

Can someone please help me what is the proper way to complete this task?

Thanks again!

Hi,

just put your thumb drive into a USB port on a PC, install a tftp server software like tftpd32 or tftpd64.

make your thumb drive the directory to serve from tftpd.

Connect your ethernet card to Management interface and configure as 192.168.1.x, ASA should be 192.168.1.1

connect with console cable to ASA and type enable then hit enter then issue this command:

copy tftp://192.168.1.x/  running-config

wr

Hi Alain,

Thanks for your reply. Just to confirm once I installed tftp server on local machine and rename the file to cisco5510. After that I just run this command:

copy tftp://192.168.1.x/cisco5510 running-config

Hi,

correct, don't forget to save running to startup with wr command after that.

Regards

Alain
