RV042 VPN fails after first login

All,

I bought a new RV042 with firmware version v4.2.2.08 (Apr 26 2013 19:12:26).

It is connected to WAN1 with an official IP adress to the cable modem. I can ping the router, I can remotely access the webpage over port 80 and 443. I started the VPN PPTP Server and the Port 1723 is open. I created one testuser.

I can connect one time to the PPTP service and the second time fails. Then I have to reboot the router and it works again.

The login via IPSec is not working at all.

What I realy mis is a step by step setup guide (icluding troubleshooting) for setting up the VPN config. Especially with all the other necessary settings like bandwidth control, firewall settings and so on.

Any idea whats going wrong?

Best regards,

Frank

Hi Frank, please create a second PPTP user. Then connect to the first testuser, disconnect and connect to the 2nd user you've created. What is the result?

It's possible the session of the first user is hung and didn't have time to release and it cleared with the reboot.

Hi Tom,

meanwhile I send the router back and bought a new one from another vendor.

Thanks for your idea.
