HI Kamal,

First of all which version u have on, paste the output from WLC: sh sysinfo

Also paste the output from AP: sh inventory

Steps to connect AP to WLC.

The AP's can be placed in any subnet you want. In order to make sure the AP's join the WLC in a different subnet, you need to at least have done one of these:

1. Initially place the AP's in the same subnet as the WLC management interface until the AP successfully joins. DHCP is required on this subnet for the AP. one joined, the AP will know of the WLC an then can be placed in any other subnet.

2. Use DHCP option 43 to point to the WLC management up address

3. On the L3 switch configure these global commands (either one depending on WLC code)

ip forward-protocol udp 5246

On the interface the AP's are on configure ip helper address pointing to the WLC management ip address.

U have IOS(aitonomous image- k9w7), u need to convert it to Lightweight AP(k9w8)

k9w7 - autonomous (or "site survey") IOS

k9w8 - full lightweight IOS (this is what is bundled in the WLC .aes image, and is factory installed on "mesh" APs)

rcvk9w8 - lightweight recovery image - this is factory installed on lightweight APs, unless a "mesh" image is specified; it lacks radio firmware.

http://mrncciew.com/2012/10/20/lightweight-to-autonomous-conversion/

For the LWAP conversion, use the recovery image ( e.g  c1140-rcvk9w8-tar.,.......tar).

HI Kamal,

As per my Knowledge u can not convert with WLC:

You should only need to pull the LWAPP/CAPWAP recovery image from cisco.com.  Then you can either use the upgrade tool or the  archive download command to pull and load the software onto the AP.

Kamal,

I'm order to help us understand the issue, you need to console into that AP and post the output so we can see if your performing the upgrade properly.

There are any docs that explain the sets and some videos. Make sure your using A compatible TFTP server. I use 3CDeamon and have not have any issues. Also make sure that your firewall is disabled on you machine as tftp is usually being blocked. Here are some links to documents and a video that you can follow to upload image to any Cisco indoor access point.
