When i was studying ASA, I found in one document that in transparent mode firewall you can assign two vlans with same ip subnet due to STP.

why due to STP we can assign two vlan with same ip subnet?

VLAN means one broadcast domain then how it is possible to assign same ip subnet to two diffrent VLANs.

Hi Vijay, a transparent mode firewall is essentially a layer 2 switch function. Keeping to the fundamentals, a layer 2 forwarding device doesn't particularly care about layer 3 IP addresses. On a transparent ASA, it does look up based on MAC, not by IP except under a very few certain conditions.
