Hi,

I have recently passed my CCNA Security 640-554 exam.

I was looking at working towards the  642-618 FIREWALL next., but noticed it expires April 21st.

What is going to replace this exam? Is it worth me studying for it now or wait?

I would like to eventually pass all 4 of my of my secuirty exams to become a full CCNP.

Not sure if this is the correct area to post this kind of question, if not please re-direct me.

Thanks

Hi,

The new exam is called 300-206 SENSS - Implementing Cisco Edge Network Security Solutions

The migration path is here:

http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/certifications/professional/ccnp_security/migration.html

You need to pass one exam from each column to become CCNP Security certified.

There is also a PDF describing the same here:

http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/certifications/professional/ccnp_security/docs/migration.pdf

So older exams will count but if you are starting out now maybe it's best to go for the new exams straight away?

SENSS 300-206 will be replacing the Firewall exam.

It depends on how fast you learn the material. But I would recommend studying for the SENSS exam as it is the new exam path, and I would presume that it has much of the same information and perhaps more then the Firewall exam has.

Hi James,

IMHO, you could still catch up studying and taking the exam for SECURE (642-637) and take the new 3 exams.

SECURE is more "native" with IINS v2 compared to FIREWALL, which is a complete paradigm shift (unless you're already familiar with the ASA firewall).

I'm not sure how fast Cisco press would release materials for these new exams (haven't read or heard it's even out yet), so I would rather go study while there's still time rather than wait for it to be officially released.

Good luck!
