Flex AP with strange EVT-5-NTC d0 Beacon events

Hello Support Community,

I am experiencing some strange behaviour with an AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9.

It is running with CAPWAP on a CT5508. Firmware; 7.4.110.0

It is one of many FLEX APs on that controller and I havent seen this behaviour on any other yet.

The user on site have a very slow connection process. It can take up to 45 minutes untill they actually connect.

The AP log shows alot of this:

(controller) >show ap eventlog ulmipap01

AP event log download has been initiated

Waiting for download to complete

AP event log download completed.

I could not find any reasonable explainations of this message. Surprisingly google also hasn't seen this particular event message yet.

Before you ask: Link Latency is fine for the most part:

And help is greatly appreciated.

Couple questions... Is this happening on all AP's at that site or just one? Are all users being affected or just one? Is it a specific device type that's having issues?

Hello Scott,

device type AP: AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9

device type Clients: Notebooks

The location only has the one AP.

Further event entries:

Feb 17 14:30:03.596: %EVT-5-NTC_PROC: dot11_return_serving_channel: d1 Channel 36

Process: Dot11 driver

Feb 17 14:30:17.091: %EVT-5-NTC_PROC: dot11_return_serving_channel: d0 Channel 1

Process: Dot11 driver

The d0 and d1 in the aforementioned seem to refer to 2.4 and 5 GHz radio.

Thats still not enough information to help.... what other log info are you seeing from the WLC?  Is iphones and android devices working fine?

Post the following:

show sysinfo

Thanks,

Scott

At the moment the user tell me the connectivity looks good.

But there are still those %EVT-5-NTC eventlogs on the AP every few milliseconds.

When you say "other log info  from the wlc" do you mean something specific? I have about 1000 clients  on it. So there are quite alot of syslog messages going around.

Just wanted to see if you see any general logs, but with that many clients it would be tough.  The AP is joined to the WLC and is serving clients or not?  Is the radios on the AP's enabled?

config 802.11a enable network

config 802.11b enable network

Thanks,

Hello Martin,

sorry for the long wait.

No I didnt solve it. Which means AP logs are completely useless for me atm, as most (if not all) of my APs with 7.4.* spam those messages all day, every day.

If I remember correctly, the TAC response was something like "oh well, sorry about that."

I hope they fix it with a future 7.4 patch.
