Hi Arika,

If your WLC mgt vlan is not DHCP enable, yes you can try manually configure an IP like below (IP & Gateway & WLC mgt IP info you have to change to according to your IP scheme). If CAPWAP keyword does not work uses LWAPP keyword in the command syntax

LWAP#debug capwap console cli

LWAP#capwap ap ip address 10.10.110.5 255.255.255.0

LWAP#capwap ap ip default-gateway 10.10.110.1

LWAP#capwap ap controller ip address 10.10.110.10

LWAP#debug lwapp console cli

LWAP#lwapp ap ip address 10.10.110.5 255.255.255.0

LWAP#lwapp ap ip default-gateway 10.10.110.1

LWAP#lwapp ap controller ip address 10.10.110.10

Refer this for more details

Post the AP console output this time if that does not work

Can you try to factory default the AP and don't use a static.

Here are a few ways to factory default. Try LWAPP first and then if that doesn't take then CAPWAP

debug lwapp console cli
debug capwap console cli
erase /all nvram

*******************************************************
Example:

Entered the username and password
debug capwap console cli
erase /all nvram:
[confirm]
undebug all
reload
[confirm]

*******************************************************
Hold reset for over 30 seconds to get to ROMMON

ap:delete flash:private-config
ap:delete flash:private-multiple-fs
ap:boot

Your AP will be factory default

Dear Team,

My AP has associate with the wlc, all i do is reset and reset AP to factory default, and then i assign static ip address and now the AP has discover from wlc and then i change the static to dhcp and everything going normally.

this step has been done before but failed.

Thanks for support!!

Hi Arika,

Try to put the AP onto the same vlan as WLC management IP address. Then if it register, later on you can re-connect the AP whereever you wanted with any other vlan configuration.

Looks like AP cannot learn about WLC

Hi Rasika,

did this problem because Policy Configuration? because on my WLC only use self-signed certs (SSCs).

btw,

is it problem when i use vlan  WLC to assign ip address to AP? because other AP not same vlan with WLC, i mean that configuration not impact to existing AP.

Thanks,

Arik

did this problem because Policy Configuration? because on my WLC only use self-signed certs (SSCs)

No, there should be a way to AP to learn about WLC IP. It can be either layer 3 broadcast, DNS, DHCP option 43 or statically configured. Since you have not setup any of those (as per the AP log we can tell it does not know what is WLC IP & that's why it is keep rebooting), I have requested you to configure it statically & see. If a AP register for a controller it will remember that WLC IP & alway search for it as long as it has L3 reachability to your WLC.

is it problem when i use vlan  WLC to assign ip address to AP? because other AP not same vlan with WLC, i mean that configuration not impact to existing AP.

AP does not need to be on same vlan as WLC. But if you put on the same vlan, then via L3 broadcast AP will find the controller IP. (so you do not want to configure statically in this case). That's a easy test to see if there is any other issue why AP cannot register to a WLC. If that register you can put AP back to where it was, it is only for testing we are doing it.

It won't impact any other APs if those already register to WLC.

Dear Rasika,

I forgot, that before i reset this AP, this AP has detect by WLC but with static IP Address.

reason for the reset because AP with different vlan.

So, we can say that AP has been detected by WLC before,

now, what should i do? should i configure this AP with static IP Address?

Thanks,

Arik

I try your post to assign static ip address, but the result is same, the AP still not discover from WLC.

sorry, update, not work... , but before the AP is discover with static ip address

we use dhcp server with dedicated server, not dhcp from switch or router.

Thxs,

Connect the AP to the same Vlan as the WLC management IP address. Make sure that when the AP boots up, that it gets a DHCP address, so this means the subnet needs to have a valid DHCP scope to hand out IP address. This is the easiest way
For the AP to join... Same layer 2 network.

The management and ap-manager if the WLC should be on the same subnet to.

HI Arik,

First of all paste the output of these commands:

From WLC: sh sysinfo

From AP: sh version

From WLC: debug lwapp events enable

Take care:

Make sure the date and time on the controller is accurate.

Regards

Hi Sandee,

This is your request, but without "debug lwapp events enable"

because i worry this is will impact to network and user has been connected to network.
