Hi Team,

I am getting an error message on the ASA indicating that the ASA is not able to obtain the software version of the IPS module that is connected to the ASA. However the problem here is that the ASA does not have an IPS connected to it. Below is the error message that we are receiving:

INFO: Power-On Self-Test complete.

Message #260 :

INFO: Starting HW-DRBG health test...Message #261 :

INFO: HW-DRBG health test passed.

Message #262 :

Message #268 :

CMGR VM: In cmgr_kvm_sw_mod_idp_req_thread, Failed to retrieve IDPROM data from software module 2

Please advise if there is a way that we can use to have this turned off?

Thanks and Regards,

Hello,

There are a couple of bugs out there but they seem to be when the ASA has the Module configured, like:

CSCul58230 and CSCum62993

I would try the following:

hostname# sw-module module ips shutdown
hostname# sw-module module ips uninstall
hostname# reload

If this doesn't work, it is better to open up a SR with TAC.

Regards,

Felipe.

Hi Felipe,

Thanks for the update. I will have this tested out now and wil advise accordingly.

Hi Felipe,

The first command is done. Attempting to apply the second command, it is giving me the following error:

"Unable to uninstall Module ips, it does not have a software image installed."

It is still giving the same error logs after reload.

Please do let me know if there is any other method that can be used for this.

Thanks

Hello Kanes,

At this point it will be better to open a case with TAC since I read on similar cases that this may end up with an RMA.

Regards,

Felipe.

Hi Felipe,

Thanks for all the help. We are now getting the IPS image re-installed.

Will update you once I have more information.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Kanes,

do you have more information about this ?

we have a brandnew 5515x with the same errormessages like yours.

or is it better directly open a RMA on TAC ?

thanks Klaus

Hi,

I have got the CX software installed on the ASA, as the ASA has a built in IPS that needs to have a software image in it. If the image is not there then its going to be generating these alerts.

Thanks and Regards,

I have also this message. why occured this message? @lcambron
