Hello everyone,

after finally successfully upgrading my WLCs from 6.0.199.4 to 7.6.100.0 there is another problem showing up...

If I want to change any configuration regarding the APs on the WLCs (which doesn't work) I get the following error-messages from the APs:

*spamApTask7: Feb 27 14:34:00.558: 00:3a:9a:d6:5d:30 Test-AP-09-03: *Feb 27 13:34:00.169: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Validate Msg: msg type 12 does not supported payload 215

Find attached some informations regarding the AP and the 5508.

Any suggestions are, as always, highly appriciated.

When changes are made to an access point that is joined and configuration changes does not take, most of the time it's due to the amount of flash available. Take a look at the flash and verify that you have enough available space and check to see if you have unnecessary files you can remove if there is lack of space. Error files can also tell you that there are issues with that AP.

Do the factory reset to AP and then try again. As scott stated that this is the issue with Flash space and you also have experiences with one of your other posts that 1242 dont have much space.

Good morning,

if I need free space at the flash: How much is "enough" to handle config changes?

Here you can see the filesystem of one of my accesspoints (all are affected):

This is most definitely created in error.  So you can create this entire sub-directory using the command "dir /f /r flash:zflash".

I had this same issue and managed to resolve the problem by going to the WLC, clicking security -> AAA-> AP Policies -> Add

then adding the MAC, selecting MIC and check the box that says "Accept Manufactured Installed Certificate (MIC)

then apply

Hello once more,

Cisco TAC told me that there are some known problems with 7.6+ WLC versions and 1242 APs.

"I’ve checked my internal database and I found out that there are some known issues with 1240 Aps in particular which are unable to save some updates (I can see here ssh), from the controller."

I had to go back to 7.4.121.0, afterwards I was able to configure the APs again with all options. Unfortionally I ran into some performance-problems with some clients, so I went back to the latest version 7.6.110.0.

So right now I am not able to configure SSH on the APs, but since it is enabled, everything is "fine" so far for me.

Hopefully Cisco can build a new version where these problems are solved.

Regards,

Manuel

Hi

I had the same issue, the problem is with country. What I did was check the "sh inventory" and see what model

AIR-CAP3702I-A-K9 this model is "-A" go  to WLC -> Wireless -> Country and check whether Regularaty Domain is available (in here also -A should be availbe) if not check the county and enbale it.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/access-points/...

Follow below procedure to enable Regulalatary Domain

Disable 80211a/n/ac network "WLC-> Wireless -> 80211a/n/ac -> Network"

Disable 80211b/g/n network "WLC -> Wireless -> 80211b/g/n -> Network"

Enable required country

Enable all above disabled network

hope this will help you all
