What is the latest hardware technology to secure a rack of switches ?

I have a switch is not located in a server room and i would like to secure its console , not just with a key but i need a powerful solution to leave the rack in an open area with some users , what are the latest solution for this issue ? we are talking about 48 port switch

What do you mean?  You want to stop people from PHYSICALLY accessing the console port but leave the data cabinets open? 

 

If this is the case, then the only thing I can think of is to put a "lock" to stop people from plugging anything into the console port.  

 

In the meantime you can enable TACACS and/or RADIUS on your console port.  Disable Telnet and only allow SSH.
