Dear Team, We have Cisco wireless implementation in clients premises. We have 8 indoor AP (AIR-CAP1602E-AK9) and 2 Outdoor AP (AIR-CAP1532I-AK9) . Seven indoor APs are able to join the 2504 controller, but 1 indoor AIR-CAP1602E AP is not joining and signal is RED continuously while as outdoor AP AIR-CAP1532I-AK9 signal goes blinking from green, red to amber continuously and is not downloading LWAPP image from the controller even after hard reset.

The output for both APs shown below-

1) AIR-CAP1602E-A-K9:

Hi,

1. 1602 AP should join to WLC. Paste the entire console output from AP after a reboot.

also paste the output from AP: sh version

from WLC: sh sysinfo

2.*Mar  1 00:01:22.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Discovery response from MWAR 'Cisco_47:32:e4'running version 7.5.102.0 is rejected.

Solution:Right now you have 7.5.102.0 software image on wlc.

You need atleast 7.6.100.0 version to connect this AP to WLC.

Check this matrix: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compa...

auth-list is ok.

something is fish, you must provide the log from AP console.

Error: The system is unable to boot automatically because there is no bootable files.

This means that image is corrupt.

You must relaod this AP or upgarde it.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lw...

Download the new image from Cisco.com or load the image on to the AP using archive download-sw command using the tftp, the issue will get resolved!!

Please advice--

I also have the IOS  upgrade for WLC2504 to 7.6.200.0 from Cisco, as per the support matrix this should support 1532i outdoor Aps. Wanted to know  if  there will be any issue for the Licensing part if i upgrade the image in the controller? My Controller has 15 license by default, and do not have license file or paper PAK since it was loaded in the device itself.

Please advice---

Regards

You have to reset AP by mode button.

paste teh complete info of this command from AP: sh version

yes 1532i outdoor AP will support WLC with 7.6.200.0 version. If you have enough AP license(you can not add more then 15 AP) then it will not create problem.

You can add 15 AP on this WLC without any additional license.

Hi,

1)  i cant get into AIR-CAP1602 unless i have the image installed.

2) i am upgrading Controller image with 7.6.200.0 in the 2504 ctr. Should i do anything for the licensing (15 Ap License) part while upgrading the IOS in the controller?  or will it work after upgrading the IOS as the license are coded in the box itself?

3) will i be able to upgrade from 7.5.102.0 to 7.6.120.0 ? or do i need to upgrade first to 7.6.100.0 and then to 7.6.120.0 ?

~~quite lame :D

Please advice :)

1. Yes you must reset AP or insatll the image via TFTP.

2. NO need. It will work as usual after software upgrade.

3. You can upgrade directly to 7.6.120.0.

I think 1602 AP has and Autonomous Image(k9w7).

You must download a k9w8 image from cisco and upload to AP.

1. Connect AP with your laptop, the laptop IP must be 10.0.0.2.(AP and laptop must be in same subnet).

2. Open TFTP on your laptop and put the Lightweight image on tftp root directory.

3. Download the LWAPP image(W8) from the Cisco website and get the console access the AP and just issue the command..

archive download-sw/overwrite/force-reload tftp://<IP address of the  TFTP server>//<image>
