Hi All,

I am just simulating the scenario discussed in the link below. Can anyone advise on my query.

http://blog.ipexpert.com/2010/12/01/vrf-route-leaking/

I have attached the PIC 1 for your reference.

How is it possible for R2 to reach 10.0.0.5( loopback on R5)? Though it can now with the config .

I am pinging from R4 to 10.0.0.5 with a source 192.168.4 and it is successful.

From R4 routing table,

O E2    10.0.0.5 [110/20] via 192.168.24.2, 00:28:07, FastEthernet0/1, to reach 10.0.0.5 go to 192.168.24.2---I can see th route to reach 192.168.24.2

so the packet is now with router R2

On R2:

From the global routing table,

to reach 10.0.0.5 go to 10.0.25.5--- But when I try to ping 10.0.25.5, it failed ( I understand that since it is in vrf red I need to put "ping vrf red ip 10.0.25.5")

But how will the router know about this? How are the routes from VRF red leaked to global? Please advise

On R2:

R2#sh ip route

Gateway of last resort is not set
