PXE and DHCP issues

Aaron Alvarado

Hi,

I am having issues getting PXE boot to work on a cisco 3750 stack. Basically, I need to do a PXE boot in order to deploy desktops but I am not getting an IP address from DHCP. The PXE server is fine and DHCP is also ok, so I was told to check on the network side. vlan 208 should Lease IP addresses on clients.  IP helper is set to my DHCP server.     Any advise?

All switchpors are configured:

switchport access vlan 208  (Network)

switchport voice vlan 209      (Voice)

srr-queue bandwidth share 10 10 60 20

queue-set 2

priority-queue out

mls qos trust device cisco-phone

mls qos trust cos

no snmp trap link-status

auto qos voip cisco-phone

spanning-tree portfast

service-policy input AutoQoS-Police-CiscoPhone

end

We just had a very similar occurrence.  I was setting a port for PXE boot, but the device would not come up, saying no DHCP response.

removed this line form the interface and it worked:

no mls qos trust dscp

We have also found setting portfast on is useful.

Good luck.

Hi,

Is the DHCP server also in vlan 208?

If it is in a different vlan, you need to add the IP helper address command to the vlan 208 SVI.

Hi,

Reza thanks for your reply.  DHCP is in Vlan 208, and  the interface vlan208 has the ip helper. 10.23.208.16 is my windows DHCP box.  Any other advise?

it is set as follows:

MXMTYLS001#sh run int vlan208
Building configuration...

Current configuration : 95 bytes
!
interface Vlan208
 ip address 10.23.208.5 255.255.255.0
 ip helper-address 10.23.208.16
end
