Hi Community.

Is there a way to Download WLC 2504 Config and Upload it to a WLC 5508. As I know this is not possible but, is it possible to import a part of the config to a WLC 5508 controller. The config of the customer isn't complicated but he has a bunch of AP's with configured AP Names and Locations.

It would be good to export the AP's and import it to the WLC 5508.

Is there a solution for that ?

best Regards Patrick

Hi Patrick,

AP Name & Locations won't be in a WLC config back up (rather remain in AP itself). So if you move APs to 5508 (from 2504), name & location  information of those AP will be there.

If you want to upload a part of configuration, you can simply take a back up of WLC configuration & apply required lines via CLI.

Yes it is possible if WCS is configure but it is recommended you do the manual process.

Further more as mention earlier AP Name & Locations will stick there.

For manual process like:

#copy running-config flash:backup-config

# transfer download datatype ?

And then on other WLC.

# transfer upload datatype ?  [it should be config]
