Renew Smart Net for Cisco 6506E - Clarification

Dear All,

 

I need clarification regarding Smartnet for Cisco 6506. We have FWSM and ACE module and two power supplies. So for renewing we have to provide all serial numbers or only Cisco 6506 Chasis serial number?

Hi tapabrata_101, please send me an email at fguasque@cisco.com with the serial number for the smartnet contract we will check which are covered for the smartnet and provide you with a part number for your local partner if you wish to add additional ones that are not covered. hope to hear from you soon!

There are two answers which are dependent on how the C6K was purchased:

 

If the ACE or FWSM module is included in a C6K bundle (WS-C6504-EACEK9-RF)  the support on the chassis provides support for all  – so serial number on chassis all that is needed.

 

If this is a configured C6K with the addition of ACE and FWSM as separate  modules then the serial number on the C6K provides support for the standard components – line cards, sups, fan, power supply.  Each of the add on modules should be renewed using the appropriate serial number and support offer.
