I have checked the document - it doesn't list any compatibility for the 12S or 24S switches, so I don't believe it is current (otherwise nothing would be compatible with these switches)

Then go HERE and look at Table 10.  This one is a lot more vague because it doesn't mention whether CWDM/DWDM will work on the appliance or on the network module. 

If in doubt, either raise a TAC Case or contact your authorized Cisco reseller or your Cisco AM/SE and have the response in writing.

Has anyone actually used / tested the CWDM optics on the 3850 12S or 24S switches?

I logged a TAC case a few days ago, they have confirmed support for the CWDM optics and the compatibility matrix page has now been updated
