Upgrading IOS / CME / CUE

Hi,

I need to upgrade the IOS on a 2921 to 15.4 which in turn upgrades the CME to version 10. This is to allow support for a new model of phone that requires minimum of CME 10.

I currently run CUE 8.6.1 on ISM-SRE-300-K9 on the same router and according to the Cisco CUE Matrix

the CUE needs to be upgraded as well to 8.6.7, 8.6.9, or 8.6.10

Has anyone tried to run CME 10 without upgrading to the new CUE? I'm wondering if it will still work and not actually require upgrading.

Not the easiest doc to follow this. Has anyone recently performed a CUE upgrade and provide some pointers / info?

Hi GRANT3779,

for CUCME 10.x, you should use CUE 8.6.9 or 8.6.10 (version 8.6.7 is only compatible with CUCM 10.0).

My recommendation is to upgrade CUE to version 8.6.10.

Do I need all of the following files?

•cue-installer.SPA.sme.8.6.x

•cue-vm-k9.SPA.sme.8.6.x.pkg

•cue-vm-full-k9.SPA.sme.8.6.x.prt1

•cue-vm-installer-k9.SPA.sme.8.6.x.prt1

•cue-vm-langpack.sme.8.6.x.prt1

I need to backup all of my files beforehand. How do I configure a backup server for this? Can this be a remote TFTP server or is this different?

Hi,

yes, the files are correct for a ISM-SRE-300-K9.

You can access the following documentation if you need: Upgrade CUE 8.6.

In 'CUE Administration > Backup/Restore > Configuration', you are able to configure the backup, that uses a FTP Server.

I have same requirement to upgrade CUE from 8.6.1 to 8.6.11 to support CME 10.5

I have question that license will be changed once upgraded and required to regenerated CSL license or not?

The license won't change as long as you are in CUE 8.6
