Config. second hand 7945 for Asterisk

Hey folks,

So we've acquired a handful of second hand 7945G phones and I have a few questions regarding getting them to talk to our Asterisk server. From what I've read, I'd need to load up the SIP firmware onto each phone (presently they're configured for SCCP). Is the firmware available without a Cisco support contract? Also, is the Unified Communications Manager necessary for administration? 

Any info you guys can give would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you would need to upload a SIP firmware and then generate a XML file. You will need support contract to download the SIP firmware from Cisco. If you are planning to use the phone with Asterisk, then you dont need a CUCM server.
