XR vs XE default VPNv4 behavoir

We have 3 vpnv4 route reflector servers in our network. We recently upgraded 2 of the router reflector servers to ASR9010s with XR. The configuration appears to match the XE configuration on the 7609. However, the XR routers only advertise vpvn4 prefixes in which the next hop is the router itself. The XR routers do not advertise vpnv4 prefixes received from other route reflector servers or route reflector clients. The 7609 continues to advertise the correct prefixes for our vpnv4 networks.

Is there a difference in the XR default vpnv4 behavior which could cause this issue? or are we simply missing some configuration?

I can provide the configuration of each of the devices if necessary.

Thanks!

Jamie

there could be 2 different items there Jamie.

if the route reflectors are fully meshed they all run the best path algorithm and they only advertise one prefix to the clients.

the other thing is that a route reflector is not capable, by default, to modify path attributes, since it is or should be "REflecting" routes.

you can override that behavior by configuring :

router bgp X

ibgp enforce-policy-modification

cheers!

Xander - Thanks for your response. We were missing a key part of the vpnv4 configuration which prevented the route reflector servers from advertising the correct routes. This has been resolved. Thanks again.
