Friends,

I'm having a issue getting a phone to load the SCCP firmware.  I have one phone that loads the firmware and registers/calls out/in just fine but a second phone will not change from MGCP to SCCP.  For reference I'm running a 2651XM with CME (It goes through the loading process and gets to P0030801SR02.loads then restarts and the MGCP logo stays while it says configuring phone.  Here is my configuration excerpt, please let me know what I can do to get this phone working!

I'm guessing you are trying to change the phone from SIP to SCCP since phones don't use MGCP firmware. Make sure there is no voice register pool defined for the MAC of the phone you are trying to convert. The put in these commands, unplug the phone and reboot it.

voice register global

create profile

exit

telephony-service

no create cnf

create cnf

exit

Thanks for the reply!  I'll give it a shot when I can get to the phone later today.

Curious though...the phone has MGCP Config below the Network Settings and when I watch it on the router it's looking for MGCDefault.cnf and MGC[mac].cnf...

Either way, thanks and I'll give it a try!

MGCP is used between the router/gateway and CUCM (the other options are H.323 or SIP trunk). SIP or SCCP are the options for a phone to register with CUCM or CME.

If you are using CME without CUCM you can remove the MGCP commands, they aren't being used.

No dice.  Same result with the added commands.

I was able to fix the problem by manually inputting a windows TFTP server and flashing 7.6 SCCP firmware then reattaching to the UCM.  Everything working now!

Here is the debug as the phone tries to register:
