FWSM Failover scenario

Hi,

I have FWSM in active/standby.  Primary was failed few days go, secondary has been active since then and we have disabled the failover.

Yesterday, tried to put back primary, however the license was a mismatch, so we had to get the correct activation key and we rescheduled the activity and removed the primary FWSM blade.

However, after that our secondary FWSM stopped working and we saw it changed the state to Pseudo stanbdy and acquired secondary ip addresses, hence stopped passing traffic.  We had to enable failover on secondary to bring it back to active state.

Has anyone experienced this scenario ?

Please note, we did not turn on the failover on the secondary FWSM.

Regards,

Puneesh

Hi,

Do you have the "show failover" and "show failover history" output from around the time of the issue ?

Thanks and Regards,

Hi ,

Could you check if failover preempt option is enabled , if that would have been enabled secondary firewall would try to become standby as soon as it will detect primary.
