TMS upgrade to 14.6.2

Our customer is on TMS 14.3 and we need to upgrade them to TMS 14.6.2

They are currently running a local instance of Windows SQL Server 2008 Express (10.00.4000).

The release notes say that SQL 2008 R2 Express and SQL 2012 Express are the supported versions for 14.6.2.

I have tried upgrading to SQL Server 2008 R2 Express, however the installer does not give me the option to upgrade the SQL Server 2008 tmsng instance I am having trouble upgrading this on the customers TMS Server.

Has anyone done this before successfully and are there steps on how to upgrade to SQL 2008 R2 Express (or SQL 2012 Express)?

EDIT I've tried following the instructions here https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj134439%28v=ws.10%29.aspx

I do not get a Select Instance Option

Hello,

just my experience from upgrade TMS 14.2.2 to 14.6 but in virtual enviroment with changing of server too.

You can't upgrade SQL x86 to R2 because R2 is only x64. I go from Win2008 x86 + SQL 2008 x86 to new Win2012 + SQL2012 and when you don't have any complex configuration of TMS you can just backup SQL and restore it on new server and just install new TMS and point it to new SQL db.

As I remember I use Change User Domain via TMS Tools and change old server hostname to new hostname because local users was defined with "hostname\ "

Don't forget to save encryption key from old one ;) (via TMS Tools)

Yes, it's soo simple and working for me.
