Off-net Access Code

Hello,

We are running CUCM 4.2 and we want to change the Off-net Access Code from 9 to 8.  The reason is, we have a lot of accidental 911 calls.  8 isn't used for any of our internal extensions, so it shouldn't be an issue there.

Can someone tell me if this is even possible, and if so how it can be configured.

Thank you!

Jeff

Yes, simply change your route patterns accordingly.

If you use H.323 check your config, and if necessary, also adjust.

Hi Jaime,

Thank you for responding.  I have done that, and it works for everything but toll free numbers, (800, 866, 888...)  When those numbers are dialed you get a message saying that you need to dial the area code as well as the 7 digit number.

After playing around with it, I noticed that if you dial 9 first you instantly get a dial tone, but if you dial 8 first, you don't get the dial tone until you dial the second number, which in this case would be a 1.

Is there another setting that has to be changed?

Any thoughts?
