7940 IP phone not registered with cucm 10.5

We have CUCM 10.5, IP Phone 7940 is not getting registering with CUCM. 7941, 7942 and other models are getting registering with CUCM. Please advice.

Hi,

Are you using 7940 SIP firmware or SCCP?

Could you please post the pic of the error? Could be that 7940 has a very old firmware and there is no direct upgrade from the existing 7940 firmware to the current one.

Regards

7940 is SCCP, old setup is CUCM  7.1, now upgrade to CUCM 10.5 new UCS server. After upgrade to CUCM 10.5, 7940 alone not getting registered. Please suggest.

Hi,

At which message the phone is stuck?

the phone show registering message, try factory reset still the same issues, the phone able to get ip address, tftp server info but not able to download the latest firmware

Hi,

If the phone is stuck in registering message, this means that the phone passed the firmware upgrade stage but not able to register with CUCM.

FYI, if the phone can't get the firmware, it should stuck in upgrading stage after factory reset.

Check phone reachability to CUCM and make sure that call manager service in activated in CUCM.

Hi Balamurgan,

Its not listed in the latest compatibility matrix but that only means the phones are not tested with CUCM 10.5. The phones should work without any issues just they are EoL/EoS so no more development/bug fix on the firmware of those phones.

In fact, its listed under the compatible firmware version with CUCM 10.5 in release notes for one of the Device Packs.

Please verify firmware version of 7940 phones. It should have firmware listed above.

Thanks!

Kunal
