We have several switches, all connected together and working as follows:
HP 2910 > HP 2 824 > HP 2824 > Cisco SF300-24 > Cisco SF300-24P > Cisco SF300-24P > Cisco SF300-24P and an unmanaged 8-port switch off one of the ports for the last SF300 switch.
I know this is the maximum daisy-chained quantity of switches so far as the HP and Ciscos are concerned.
The HPs are configured to be stacked.
How and where do I configure the Ciscos to be stacked?? -- and should I stack them??
HPs are in server rack.
First two Ciscos are in patch panel room at opposite end of building from HPs in server rack...one cable connects the last HP to the first Cisco.
2nd Cisco is connected to 3rd Cisco in 2nd building by a fiber optic cable with GBICs at each end.
4th Cisco is in different room in same 2nd building with 3rd Cisco.
So far no obvious issues over the years.
Recently we have a few times had PCs lose their DHCP-assigned IP addresses and only rebooting the 2nd and 3rd Ciscos resolved this problem.
Noticed spanning tree errors in the first two Ciscos, the ones in our patch panel room.

Have not really found whether or not to turn STP off or not...it is RSTP, PortFast appears to be automatically enabled.
Then I remembered the HP switches are stacked, and wondered if the Cisco SF300s should also be stacked instead of spanning tree.
Even with stacking the HPs, the HPs have their own IP addresses...they've been that way forever.
Thank you, Tom
