PoE on ISR829

Hi,

I've recently acquired a 829 router, which has 4 PoE ports.

Thus, trying to plug any compatible devices on these ports fails (while regular devices are OK). In configuraiton, I don't see any of the regular commands as described at http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12-2/25ew/configuration/guide/conf/PoE.html

Any ideas to get PoE working on this router ?

Cheers,

Mathieu

The PoE ports in the 829 require a separate power supply. Do you have this power supply plugged in? See the following link:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/access/800/hardware/installation/guide/800HIG/connecting.html#pgfId-1070724

Thanks for your quick answer,

I had a look, but I don't see any seperate power input on this router : http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/routers/access/800/829/78-100611-01C0.pdf

If you do "show inventory" do you see the PoE daughter card installed? This router could be ordered with or without this card installed. Also, how many watts is your power supply? 80? 125? If ordered with the daughter card it should be a 125-watt power supply.

Thanks Brandon,

I d'ont have the daughter card.

Thus, I'm surprised, it seems we shall have PoE without it. Here is what I can read from the datasheet  :

30W of PoE/PoE+ shared across the four Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.

Cheers

The data sheet seems to have contradictory info. It says:

30W of PoE/PoE+ shared across the four Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.

AND

Additional WAN options, such as Gigabit Ethernet WAN interfaces and a 4-port 10/100/1000 Ethernet managed switch with an optional module for Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) LAN connectivity.

My guess is the PoE daughter card is required. However, you may want to check with TAC for clarification.
