Cisco ASA 5506-X with FirePOWER Services, SFR malfunctioning

Hello Everyone,

I ran into some trouble with a newly bought ASA 5506x
Somehow I think the SFR module got corrupted.

It doesn't finish booting anymore.

I do get some neat debug messages like this:

Mod-sfr 330> ***
Mod-sfr 331> *** EVENT: The module is being automatically restarted.
Mod-sfr 332> *** TIME: 13:41:45 CEST Jan 29 2016

Mod-sfr 347> module will attempt to restart in 60 seconds.

Mod-sfr 351> image /dev/sda: Input/output error

This log has been taken from trying a recover boot.
Because I thought maybe installing the module new could end my troubles.

But not even recover is booting.
Is there even anything I can do, or should I just warranty replace?

Cheers for your thoughts,

Linus

Hi,

This seems to be a faulty device. Try uninstalling the SFR and reloading the ASA and then try to install it again and see if that helps. If not we might have to replace it .

Hello,

I am afraid uninstalling works, but reinstalling the image seems to be not possible.
The Module never gets into the recovery state, after some error messages it goes to unresponsive.

It does look like a faulty appliance...

Linus
