HI Vasanth,
Why can't we say that Leased Line as MPLS,what is different b/w them?
<Nagendra> Leased Line is a common terminology used in the past to refer the dedicated L2 circuit service to connect 2 sites. A single Leased line cannot provide a fully meshed connectivity between sites. You need P2P circuit between each such sites (or use hub-spoke topology).
what kind service MPLS can provide?
<Nagendra> MPLS could provide both L3 or L2 service between sites. Further L2 service could be point-to-point (known as AToM or E-Line or VPWS etc) or could be multipoint-to-multipoint (known as VPLS or E-LAN etc).

As Nagendra points out a Leased Line provides a point to point connection to a single location while MPLS potentially provides connection to multiple remote locations through a single connection on your router. It may not be obvious but another difference is that with a Leased Line you are paying 100% of the cost of the infrastructure to transmit that data and that Leased Line is dedicated to only your traffic. Also a Leased Line is generally provisioned to handle your maximum amount of traffic but that means that it will have some periods of inactivity and you are paying whether the line is used or not. With MPLS it is typically a shared service. The provider is paying the cost of the infrastructure to carry this traffic but the provider charges you only some part of that cost and charges other customers who share the infrastructure for their use. So MPLS is typically less expensive that Leased Line.
In addition to the services that Nagendra mentions MPLS may offer services such as L2 or L3 VPN, or traffic engineering,

Hi Richards,
Thank you
So we cannot say that leased line will be a part of MPLS services, right?
Please correct me?If I'm wrong.

A least line could be used for MPLS. It might also be used as a connection from the customer to a MPLS provider's MPLS cloud.
Again, you're mixing technologies. A least line is a media (wire) that you rent/lease to connect to end points. MPLS is a technology that runs over media. The least line supports L1. MPLS provides (sort of) L2/L3.

Your question is sort of like asking, can't we say that Ethernet as VLAN, what is the different b/w between them?
Regarding b/w between LL and MPLS networks, they can use many of the same underlying media.
As to services MPLS can provide, it can provide many.
