UCS B200M3 server 2-adapters unreachable

Hi,

I have a UCS with 6 servers installed in version 2.2.6e

2 servers are B200M4 and 4 servers are B200M3

one of the B200M3 server installed in slot 5 display error: Adapter 1/5/1 is unreachable. Also for Adapter 1/5/2

It affect all LAN nics to be down and VIF paths is unpinned and give Error

And in Faults page of the server, it shows: Adapter host interface 1/5/1/x link state: down . x is repeated for all nic numbers

Also  Adapter host interface 1/5/2/x link state down for the second adapter

And inform that Adapter 1/5/1 and 1/5/2 is unreachable

I tried to re-acknowledge the server and the chassis with no success

Also de-associate the service profile and reassociate with no help

Also decommission the server then recommission it with no success

Also I have reset all the chassis and FIs with no help

Still adapter not reachable

From FI cli , I found the following output

UCS /chassis/server # show adapter

Adapter:
Id         PID          Vendor          Serial          Overall Status
    ---------- ------------ --------------- --------------- --------------
             1 UCSB-MLOM-40G-01
                            Cisco Systems I XXXXXXXXX     Operable
             2 UCS-VIC-M82-8P
                            Cisco Systems I XXXXXXXXX     Operable

The above is the 2 adapters. The same adapters is working good for other 3 B200M3 servers

So please help what may be the cause. plz note that it happen suddenly with no action from our side

I'm thinking to remove the server and re-insert the adapter cards and insert it again !!

Thanks

Haitham

Hi Haitham,

Check the Adapter reachablilty like below::

ucs-B# connect adapter 1/5/1
adapter 3/1/1 # connect
127.8.3.17: No route to host        >>>> mean some issue with Adpater (Non-working)

adapter 3/1/1 # exit
ucs-B# connect adapter 1/5/2
adapter 3/1/2 # connect
adapter 3/1/2 (top):1#  >>>> working one
adapter 3/1/2 (top):1#

for the Non-working , try to reseat the Adapter once ,if it fix the issue then great otherwise Replace the adpater.

Thanks-

Afroz
