After that we tested the configuration with following steps:

  •  We powered off Switch-1 and without interrupt in traffic switch-2 was active.
  • Then we powered on switch-1 and it came up in standby mode.
  • Then we powered off switch-2 and switch-1 became active without traffic interruption
  • Power on switch-2 and it came up in standby mode.
  • Reset switch-1 and then switch-2 became active and in this condition switch-1 after reset came up without any configuration
  • So we did VSS configuration on it again so it changed to standby and got the configuration from switch-2.

So it seems there is something wrong which caused this problem.

  • Another issue is that the X6848 module in switch 2 will reset randomly when switch-1 is active and we think based on above table this can be because of dependency of HW version between X6848 and SUP2T.so please see below log and comment.

  • Oct 31 20:03:29: %PM_SCP-SW2_STBY-1-LCP_FW_ERR: System resetting switch 2 module 1 to recover from error: Linecard received system exception. Err code

  • Another issue is that one of WISM modules which is in switch-2 (SAL1910AVAK) is not reachable and cannot configure it from scratch. We also rolled back it to factory setting but it is not possible to do primary configuration via console or SUP2T.the history of logs are as below please check let us know your idea as the other module in switch-1 has no problem .we also change the place of this card and moved to switch 1 but same issue happened.

  • After that we wanted to test traffic for NAM module which there is in each chassis with SPAN protocol with following command:

  • Monitor Session 1 source interface g1/1/1

After running this command switch hanged and we lost the connection and had to hard reset the switch but after power up we found out that there is no VSS configuration on active switch and it is in standalone mode so all previous configuration exists except interface configuration because of wrong interface numbers in standalone in compare with vss.

Now Kindly would you please check what can be the problem with VSS configuration or any issue related to the SUP2T (in case of software and hardware versions based on above table)? actually we think there should be some bug for vss configuration which cause such these problems or if there is anything else please update us.

Let us know if you need more information.

That is really old code.  I would be tempted to upgrade the SUP2-T's at least to a "gold star" software release, such as 15.1.2-SY7.

https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=283933147&flowid=27051&softwareid=280805680&release=15.1.2-SY7&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=MD&reltype=latest

The version of code you are using isn't even available for download anymore.  And that tells me something straight away.  If you want to avoid software bugs you really need to run recent code trains, and preferably "gold star" releases.
