Microsoft surface pro 4 and Jabber MOVI

Cisco Jabber MOVI Video calls on Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has bad video quality.

There is a green tint observed on the video.

On investigation, Surface pro 4 uses different technology for video. There is a architectural change required in Jabber to support this new technology.

Conditions:
Jabber MOVI version 4.8.12 video calls in Surface pro 4

For Jabber windows, it looks like, this is solved with new Version 11.7.

What is the solution for Cisco Jabber MOVI ?

There is none - JabberVideo aka Movi is EOL/EOS - see http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/collaboration-endpoints/jabber-video-telepresence-movi/eos-eol-notice-c51-732787.html and note in particular

August 7th 2014: The last date that Cisco Engineering may release any final software maintenance releases or bug fixes. After this date, Cisco Engineering will no longer develop, repair, maintain, or test the product software.

Our Cisco reseller still sold us licenses of Jabber MOVI beginn of 2015, mentioned this product will be useable for our enterprise envirnoment till March 2018. Some months ago immediatly the usage of this product in our global mobile envirnoment with Apple Ipad was ending (Apple is not supporting 32 bit application anymore!)  and now it looks like also our new standard device Surface pro 4 we can not use Jabber MOVI anymore.

Cisco definition till March 2018:

The last date to receive applicable service and support for the product as entitled by active service contracts or by warranty terms and conditions. After this date, all support services for the product are unavailable, and the product becomes obsolete.

Still ask everybody, if some solution, ideas or workaround are available.

thx for any feedback or sharing

Your reseller should have pointed out when he suggested Jabber Video (Movi) as a solution and prior to purchase that the product was already in progress of being end-of-sale/life.

You can still contact TAC, as the last date of support isn't until March 31, 2018, however if the issue is related to the Jabber Video (Movi) software, there is no fix as the software isn't being developed anymore.

Looking at the various bugs submitted for the Surface Pro 4 with video issues, it appears it's an issue with the SP4 and the software that's trying to use video needs to be updated.  If this is case, there is no solution.

Oh, I suspect it will be usable long after that, however, just because it's usable doesn't mean any further software development and bug fixes will take place.

And in this case it won't - and as Patrick said, your reseller should have pointed out that the product was EOL/EOS - and that Cisco, at the time, offered a free licence migration to Jabber (which is the replacement product for JabberVideo, and which uses the PVE engine of JabberVideo/Movi), and it included, if my memory serves me right, a free CUCM.

Guess you could contact your Cisco rep and see if they can come to the party if you're interested in migrating.

Another, long term option could be, like we have done, going with a third-party solution like Pexip.
