5.3 EoS came out now:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/ios-nx-os-software/ios-xr-software/eos-eol-notice-c51-737730.html
Confusingly, the 5.1 announcement explicitly contained the date for the EMR. Now this is missing completely in the 5.3 accouncement. What makes things even worse, as there are now two different EMR planned for 5.3, this information becomes quite interesting.

hi Florian,
thanks for bringing this to attention. I'll see to have the document updated.
In the meantime, this is what you can expect on 5.3: both the 5.3.3 and 5.3.4 are EMRs. The EoM for both 5.3.3 and 5.3.4 releases should be July 2018.
Regards,
Aleksandar

Hi Aleksandar,
Thank you for the information. If both 5.3.3 und 5.3.4 will be EoM at the same time, what is the value of bringing a second EMR to life instead of just developing more bugfixes and service packs for 5.3.3?

hi Florian,
there are two reasons:
1) limited disk size on A9K-RSP-4G/8G. With the growth of 5.3.3 Service Pack pies, the disk space on these RSPs would soon become a challenge.
2) 5.3.4 is more than just 5.3.3+SMUs. We have a good number of hardening fixes that cannot be delivered as 5.3.3 SMUs.
regards,
Aleksandar
