That can have different reasons:

  • For some devides it has to be enabled ("logging on" or "logging enable")
  • perhaps you are sending with the wrong source and you have to specify a "logging source"
  • Does your syslog server or a intermediate firewall filter who is allowed to send data?

  • For some devises it has to be enabled ("logging on" or "logging enable")

all the devices having logging on but enable option is not there

  • perhaps you are sending with the wrong source and you have to specify a "logging source"

its proper source as i am able to ping the syslog from the switch

  • Does your syslog server or a intermediate firewall filter who is allowed to send data?

yes the syslog server is PRTG and there is no port blocking

Thanks

Hello, Wish I am not too late.

So what you can try, is to synchronize your clock with an unique NTP server ( and choose the same for your PRTG ) It's really important. The first time I implemented Syslog i got this problem.

But right now i have another issue, while implementing syslog in HSRP environement, it works fine for the first switch, but when i do the same for the second PRTG doesn't receive any message??? I am stuck with this.

Wish my contribution helped you....
