CUCM NTP

We've recently upgraded to CUCM 11.5. When installing it, our vendor entered an ntp server that we don't use. Once I found out, I gave him the correct IP address and he entered that one in. I asked him if we could delete the initial one that he entered, and he told me that if we did we would have to re-license the server. All of our phones are grabbing the time from the wrong server. Is it true that I would have to re-license it if I delete that first address?

Hi,

with 11.5 you would be running PLM, there is no need to re-host licenses for NTp changes. But before making NTP changes just for caution sake remove the product instance from PLM and re-add the same.

PLM explained below.

Hi,

Changing the NTP server on the CUCM would not affect licensing. It used to happen in version 8.X where license MAC used to get changed whenever NTP was added or deleted.

As the guys mentioned below. No impact starting from 9.x. Please go ahead and change it safely.

Just make sure that you restart ntp service on subscribers to get the new startnum. This is safer to avoid db replication problems later.
