Cisco 3905 w/ InformaCast - Not Receiving Live Pages

Hey guys, 

I have a bunch of 8841 phones that work without an issue when I add them to recipient groups in InformaCast, however the 3905 model phones do not receive the page and do not go on speaker+mute like all other phones. 

I see it's supported: https://www.singlewire.com/matrix/cisco-phones


I checked and the 3905 is running the proper firmware version. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi there,

If you are running an Informacast resilient build the 3905's are not supported;

Important Information Regarding Compatibility

  • InformaCast should be deployed co-located with a CUCM cluster member. SRST sites will not work
  • Resiliency is designed for failover purposes and does not increase InformaCast capacity
  • InformaCast servers must be part of the same multicast domain
  • If you are running InformaCast in a multiple CUCM cluster environment, Resiliency will support one CUCM cluster. You can deploy multiple InformaCast Resiliency clusters.
  • InformaCast Resiliency does have some caveats, such not supporting environments using Paging Gateways and Cisco Phone Models 7905, 7912, 3905.

Hi Rob, 


The issue was that InformaCast was set to use JTAPI, which is currently and never will be supported by the 3905 phone, TAC says it has something to do with it's weak hardware. 

You have to turn off JTAPI in InformaCast and have it use HTTP, which Cisco said is not as reliable. 

I changed it, changed the Auth URL in CUCM to point to InformaCast and the phone now pages.
