PIM Multicast Sparse-Mode Issue

Hi All,

We are implementing PIM Sparse-Mode from 1 LAN over an MPLS WAN to another LAN - to stream audio. When using a tool to test broadcaster/listener traffic using a multicast group 239.0.100.X the tests constantly fail between sender and receiver.

I have put output below from the sender router, the RP and the receiver router. Can anyone please explain, what I am missing. Is there an issue on the LAN routers here or is it an issue in the MPLS WAN? Thanks for your help! I am truely stumped!

Sender LAN Router

#show ip mroute

(10.246.52.66/32, 239.0.100.1/32), uptime: 00:02:54, pim ip
Incoming interface: Vlan252, RPF nbr: 10.246.52.66
Outgoing interface list: (count: 0)

RP (CE Router)

#show ip mroute

(*, 239.0.100.1), 00:02:27/00:02:23, RP 192.168.178.1, flags: SP
Incoming interface: Null, RPF nbr 0.0.0.0
Outgoing interface list: Null

(10.246.52.66, 239.0.100.1), 00:02:27/00:02:43, flags: P
Incoming interface: GigabitEthernet0/1, RPF nbr 10.178.29.73
Outgoing interface list: Null

Receiver Router

#show ip mroute
(*, 239.0.100.1), 00:01:43/00:02:37, RP 192.168.178.1, flags: SP
Incoming interface: GigabitEthernet0/1.100, RPF nbr 172.17.41.213
Outgoing interface list: Null

Hello,

hard to say, can you post the configs of the devices ? Can you ping the RP from the sender router ?

Hi,

Yes you can ping the RP from the sending router and you can see a PIM neighbour adjacency also. You can also see that all 3 devices know the RP of the network via BSR.
