Getting a CISCO AIR-CAP1602I-A-K9 to work

I have the following setup:

Cisco 1941-K9 2-Port Router w/Security IP Base License, and gigabit h-wic copper and gbic port

Cisco SG300-20

Cisco SG200-18

Cisco SG200-26

I am trying to add a Cisco Air CAP 1602i-A-K9 to the setup, but apparently I need a controller or I need to convert the 1602 to Autonomous. How do I go about converting this unit (I am assuming I need to)? I purchased the 1602 on eBay BNIB (factory sealed), have a Cisco Account, but I don't have a preferred seller to purchase a Contract from to get the update. How do I get the update, and do I need to pay for this every year? This is a setup for my home.

tia,

Ron

As suspected, AP came with a lightweight image which require a WLC to make this AP working.

As long as you got a autonomous image ( eg- ap1g2-k9w7-tar.153-3.JD.tar), you can follow below post instructions to convert this to autonomous

Hi Ron,

How do I go about converting this unit (I am assuming I need to)?

Refer below posts on conversion process

ap2g1-k9w7-tar.xxx is the file you require. Check & see from the seller you able to get it

Thanks, I have sent a message to the seller...hopefully he can get the file for me, if not i don't know what i am going to do.

hi,

console to the AP and post here the boot up process. will let you know if you need to convert or not.

since this is a home setup, you just run the AP as autonomous/standalone.

see helpful link to setup an autonomous AP:

http://ccnawirelesswannabe.blogspot.com/2016/08/configuring-cisco-autonomous-standalone.html

Thanks, when I receive the unit I will post up the boot up process. Do I need to take pics of every screen or am I looking for a specific part?

connect to it via CLI and provide output of "show version".

Also log the console output while it is booting and attach it as .txt file in the next response.
