SSID WLAN redundancy

Hi guys,

I have two WLCs (primary and secondary) I configured the redundancy port and every thing is OK, I tested when I switched off the WLC1 the WLAN still working through WLC2. But my question here, for example if one port for one SSID WLAN in WLC1 shutdown the WLC2 can not work and I will lose the connection! why?

Is the redundancy just if WLC1 shutdown completely ?

What happen if some ports shutdown in WLC1? why can not gor to WLC2?

Thanks for all

Mohammad

The redundancy is for the RP or the management port if the primary looses heartbeat to the standby. There is no redundancy if a port goes down and that is why the use of LAG is important. If you have an 5520 for example and one port goes down, you should get a trap stating that.  If you only have one connection to the wired infrastructure and the port goes down, then the controllers will fail over.
