Hi all,

i have 2x5600 nexus and in excess of 16 nexus 2ks

they are all single homed with vpc between the 56ks

in order to form a port channel with a server, does the server have to support lacp?

for guys with server knowledge, does that mean nic teaming?

if not and you connect the server port to ewch switch on its own, will both ports go to disabled state as result of stp?

thank you everyone for overwhelming amount of response :)

I found my own answer for anyone which might come across this

NIC teaming has a standby/active pair thus no need to have LACP supported on that port.

Only one port will be forwarding at any one time.

I have gained this knowledge based on some research thus if you believe I am mislead please correct me .

You can then use LACP to connect two 2Ks to ESX or any other server which supports lacp

configuration will be :

5Ks VPCed

2ks single homed to one 5K

2k port channel configured with "VPC [unique number]" assigned on both 2ks.

job done
